Coast Guard is looking for a Commander
The Coast Guard is a civil state preparedness authority responsible for maritime surveillance and environmental rescue services at sea on behalf of the government and parliament. During preparedness for environmental rescue, we work preventively with environmental monitoring while promoting a sustainable marine environment. We also conduct supervision and control of fishing, customs, border control, hunting, and nature conservation at sea. Additionally, we work to increase safety through maritime traffic monitoring and maintain constant readiness for search and rescue operations. Around the clock, year-round, we are present along Sweden's coast, protecting lives and the environment, now and for the future.

Description
The Coast Guard is looking for a commander to be stationed at the Falkenberg coast station.
Responsibilities
In addition to the duties as a coast inspector and a representative of the Coast Guard's employer brand, your main responsibilities as a commander will be to:
- be responsible for leading and distributing the work onboard
- plan, prioritize, and follow up on daily operations onboard
- document and report in KIBS
- be responsible for the operation and supervision of the vessel
- participate in operational planning and follow-up
- lead operations, search and rescue missions
- ensure compliance with regulations surrounding the Coast Guard's maritime safety work
- be responsible for position training for the staff
- ultimately responsible for the vessel and crew's safety according to the Maritime Code
- be responsible for safety training for the staff
- participate in the station's management group
- represent the Coast Guard in various contexts and collaborate with other authorities and organizations
Qualifications
You have completed the Coast Guard's basic training. You have a very good ability to lead and develop both personnel and operations. You instill confidence, delegate tasks, and have the ability to motivate employees to perform well. By being engaged, driven, and communicative, you create a positive and developing work environment. You enjoy working independently as well as collaboratively with others. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
The position requires that you have basic qualifications and nautical qualifications in class NB, in accordance with the guidelines for KBV shipping regarding staffing, qualifications, and training for the safe operation of the Coast Guard's vessels (dnr 2018-3130).
The position also requires that you, according to the aforementioned guidelines, have the following competencies:
- medical certificate, 12.1
- approved training in basic safety, 12.2.1
- radio operator training, 12.4
Furthermore, the position requires that you, according to the previously mentioned guidelines, have or will obtain the following competencies:
- training in advanced firefighting, 12.5.1
- training in food hygiene, 12.12
- leadership and work environment training, 12.13-14
Conditions
The employment is a permanent position with a 6-month probationary period and start date according to agreement. Swedish citizenship, a driver's license for passenger cars, a drug test, and a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act are required for employment.
The Coast Guard participates in foreign missions and international operations. Therefore, the employment includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for the operation.
In the case of permanent employment, there is also an obligation to be placed in wartime.
